Astrea (Ship) logbook, 1785-1787.

The logbook of the ship Astrea details a shipping voyage from Salem, Mass., to Charleston, S.C.; Cowes, England; Helsingor, Denmark; Marstrand, Sweden; and Kronshtadt, Russia, Dec. 1785-Dec. 1787. The ship's owner was Elias Hasket Derby; the master was Benjamin Hodges; the logbook keeper was possibly Thomas Dean. The logbook includes inventories of the ship's cargo and notes on shipboard occupations. During its voyage, the Astrea spoke the ship Edward and the brig John.
